Watchdog asks Google to stop censoring Russian media content

MOSCOW, Oct 30 (PRIME) -- The communications service has again demanded that Google stop censoring Russian media after marking television channel Rossiya 1’s Wednesday talk show as “inappropriate and offending for some audiences” on YouTube, the authority said on Friday in a statement.

“The communications service has again sent to the management of company Google a letter with a request to halt censorship of information materials of Russian media,” the authority said, adding that the disputed video was uploaded on the program’s official YouTube channel.

The service said that YouTube’s actions were an act of censorship and underlined that “any restrictions in distribution on the territory of Russia of the information material” are inadmissible.
